Mining & Quarrying

Pump Supplies have, right since being founded in 1982, supported the quarrying market with supplying only the best pumps whether from our substantial dewatering hire fleet or vast sales stock of drainage, slurry and sludge pumps.

Our drainage pump fleet is primarily based on the Flygt Bibo range of submersible pumps, known for reliability, efficiency and wear resistance due its rugged construction and build quality. Complementing our drainage pumps are the Grindex range of sludge pumps and the Flygt 5000 series of heavy duty slurry pumps- both ranges found extensively in quarries worldwide.

Please see our latest case stories on Torr Quarry, in which we supplied and installed 4 x 3240 290kW C-Pumps to help water management at one of the UK’s largest quarries and Craig-Hr-Hesg in which we provide a bespoke pump and monitoring & control system to improve the discharge turbidity levels.

Case Study
Craig-Yr-Hesg Quarry
Pump Supplies has worked closely with customer Hanson to design and install a pumped system with monitoring and control support at its Craig-Yr-Hesg Quarry in Wales, speeding up the discharge process and improve the clarity of the site’s discharged water.

The site drainage system utilised six settlement lagoons on a gravity weir system, but the Pump Supplies team aimed to design and install the pumped system using a slightly modified construction with eight lagoons. The overall process involves collection and settlement into lagoons. This is through controlled pumped discharge from two attenuation lagoons to the six settlement lagoons prior to gravity weir discharge to the river Taff, Pontypridd within Natural Resource Wales’ consent parameters …
