At Pump Supplies, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our team both in and out of the workplace. Last week, our very own Paul completed one of the world’s most iconic recreational rowing events, the Sulkava Suursoudut in Finland, rowing over 60 kilometres alongside the Sulkavan Rogues.
It’s a remarkable accomplishment that reflects the dedication, resilience and teamwork we value every day.
What is the Sulkava Suursoudut?
Held annually on the beautiful waters surrounding Sulkava in eastern Finland, the Sulkava Suursoudut is recognised as the largest recreational rowing event in the world.
Each year, thousands of rowers from across the globe travel to Finland to take on the challenging course through lakes, islands and open water. While the scenery is spectacular, the event is far from easy. Covering more than 60 kilometres, participants face many hours of continuous rowing, testing both their physical endurance and mental determination.
The event welcomes everyone from experienced rowers to enthusiastic amateurs, creating a unique atmosphere where competition, camaraderie and personal achievement come together.
Months of Preparation
Completing an event of this scale doesn’t happen overnight.
For Paul and the Sulkavan Rogues, the journey began months before race day, with regular training sessions designed to build endurance, improve technique and develop the teamwork needed to keep a traditional rowing boat moving efficiently over such a long distance.
Success in long-distance rowing depends on every member of the crew working together. Maintaining rhythm, supporting one another and staying focused throughout the challenge are just as important as physical strength.
That level of commitment deserves enormous credit.
More Than Just a Sporting Challenge
While completing over 60 kilometres on the water is an incredible achievement in itself, the challenge also provided an opportunity to raise money for charity.
Friends, family, colleagues and supporters have been following the team’s journey, donating generously and encouraging them every step of the way.
Taking on a demanding endurance event for a cause that benefits others makes the achievement even more meaningful, and we’re incredibly proud that Paul chose to represent both the team and Pump Supplies in such a positive way.
Congratulations, Paul!
Everyone at Pump Supplies would like to congratulate Paul and the entire Sulkavan Rogues crew on successfully completing the Sulkava Suursoudut.
Rowing more than 60 kilometres is an extraordinary physical and mental challenge, and reaching the finish line is something every member of the team should be incredibly proud of.
We’d also like to thank everyone who has supported the team’s fundraising efforts throughout their journey. Every message of encouragement and every donation has helped make the challenge even more worthwhile.
If you’d still like to support the team’s chosen charity, you can visit their fundraising page and contribute to this fantastic cause.
From all of us at Pump Supplies, well done, Paul. Your commitment, perseverance and team spirit have been an inspiration, and we’re delighted to celebrate this fantastic achievement with you.
